One thing that is always constant for business is change. It’s the kind of change that you can rarely predict, and it’s even more difficult to prepare for.
Jay Billups Creative Media (JBCM) has been building business as a tenant of V-Suites CS run by Robin Stephenson, a great entrepreneur. Robin’s business helped me incubate JBCM and grow it into the business that it is today.
And now we face COVID-19. A change we definitely couldn’t see coming and, as small businesses, one we had no idea how to prepare for or survive. Unfortunately, the situation put Robin in a position that it was best to close V-Suites CS.
JBCM is losing its home! Well, that’s one way to look at it, but it’s not the way an entrepreneur assesses a situation. It’s a tough time for photography and video companies … clients are cancelling, weddings are postponed and productions are hard to come by.
Instead of doom and gloom, every failure or problem (no matter how big or small) is an opportunity! It’s all a matter of mindset. Instead moping, it’s a great time to improve skills and learn new ways of doing business with the tools at-hand like, live-streaming events, speakers and musicians.
Yep, JBCM is losing its office and studio, the fallout of COVID-19 has also caused a loss of all employees, and our primary forms of business has slowed to a crawl. So, what is next for JBCM?
Stay tuned! I can guarantee you that this failure, this event, will just be a forward launching point to some great … soon!
It may be and end of an era, but not the end of an epoch. GO JBCM!
